It’s proven that sitting all day is detrimental to our health. If you have no choice, the very least you can do is ensure your chair doesn’t throw your back out of whack. The E-Win Racing Hero gaming and office chair provides the support you need and the luxury you desire. Is it the right chair for you?

Find out in Android Authority‘s E-Win Hero review.

About this E-Win Hero review: I spent a week evaluating the E-Win Racing Hero gaming and office chair. I used it during gameplay and also as my primary office chair. E-Win Racing provided the chair to Android Authority for review.

If you spend a lot of time sitting, no matter the reason, a good chair is vital. I’ve been saddled with some pretty miserable office chairs over the course of my career. Those that don’t properly support your back lead to pain, poor posture, and general misery. One of the first things I did when I started working from home was to invest in a solid chair. It makes a world of difference, trust me.

Want to prevent aches and pains? Want to improve your overall health, even if only a little bit? The E-Win Hero gaming chair can help.

Do you have to assemble the chair?

Yep, and it ain’t fun. The chair arrives in a large, heavy box (27.3kg). You’ll need a semi open space to manage the box and all the contents therein.

E-Win provided all the tools necessary for the job (basically just an allen wrench), but the directions included in the box were for a different chair. Granted, most of the basic steps were the same, but a few definitely were not. Due to the weight of the chair components, positioning them and holding them in place properly when aligning screws was a chore. I recommend you ask a friend to help, even if only with a couple of steps.

Beyond these issues, it’s a rather straightforward process to put the pieces together. It took about 20 minutes. A pair of gloves is included in the package to protect your hands when using the allen wrench. Put them on.

What is the E-Win Hero made of?

It’s made of good stuff. First, the chair has a steel frame in the chair bottom and back. This is what contributes the most to the weight. The metal frame is then covered in high-density, cold-cure memory foam. E-Win says its foam is engineered to be twice as heavy as regular foam. It’s elastic, yet durable. The foam is then covered in stain-resistant leather. E-Win says the leather can be cleaned repeatedly without damage. The leather is also resistant to abrasion and sun/ultraviolet damage.

The chassis under the chair itself is made of metal and plastic. A metal piston provides the suspension, and a frame for the five-pointed wheel array is polished aluminum. The wheels themselves are strong 2-inch casters.

E-Win rates the chair for 400lbs. Everything is covered by a two-year warranty except the frame, which is covered by a 10-year warranty.

What are the E-Win Hero’s features?

It’s a big chair and practically everything is adjustable. The seat measures 20.7-inch wide by 22.4-inch deep, while the back rest measures 36.6-inch tall by 22.4-inch wide. The backrest adjusts from an upright angle of 85 degrees down to a nearly-flat 155 degrees for cat naps. The lever for adjusting the seat angle is made of metal and the mechanism comes across as incredibly strong.

The armrests are 4 inches wide by 11 inches long. They adjust in eight directions: up and down ~3 inches; in and out ~1.5 inches; front to back ~2 inches; and rotate ~2 inches. The padding is plastic and feels durable. No word on how it will hold up to sweat over time, but it didn’t get slick despite some hot and humid days while I tested it.

You can raise and lower the chair by 4 inches. The E-Win Hero also leans back on a sturdy spring. Both of these are controlled by a bar below the seat. This is one aspect of the chair I didn’t like. The plastic bar comes across as a bit flimsy.

Last, there are two pillows, one for lumbar support and one for neck support. These are strapped to the chair via elastic bands.

How does it feel?

I’ve sat in dozens of office chairs over two decades as a journalist. The E-Win Racing Hero is the most comfortable and supportive such chair I’ve ever nestled into. After using it for a week as my main office chair, I can plainly say that my back feels better at the end of each day. My back isn’t as stiff or worn out as it was with my old chair. The support is quite something, but it’s not perfect.

After using it for a week as my office chair, I can plainly say my back feels better.

I’m a tall guy and I have a long torso. The 36-inch back is more than adequate to support me, but the neck pillow is a slight problem. Even at its highest-adjusted position, the pillow sits below my neck. After a couple of days I had to take it off the chair. If you want to nap, you can always keep it nearby.

The strong lumbar support is excellent, though keeping the lumbar pillow in place can also be a challenge. Some might desire more pliability to the pillow, or perhaps the ability to adjust its shape a bit, but it fit me just fine.

I haven’t previously sat in many gaming chairs, but I also used the chair for some time in front of my Xbox. Prior to using the E-Win Hero I always simply sat on my couch during gameplay. I was never truly comfortable gaming this way. The Hero managed to change that. I found I was more willing to spend time blasting my way through games than if I’d been drooped on the couch or hunched over on the floor.

A good chair makes all the difference, and the E-Win Hero is a good chair.

No one wants to spend money on a chair. Whether you sit for eight hours a day gaming or eight hours a day working, there’s no question that you need to take care of yourself. You’re worth the investment in a good chair.

My younger self never cared to spend more than about $150 on an office chair. I now know that was a mistake. If you’re going to spend one-third of your day in a single seat, you may as well splurge and make that the best chair you can afford. Your back and neck will thank you.

The E-Win Racing Hero is expensive at $359. If that’s a bit too much, E-Win has a slew of options in the $199 to $299 price range that may suit you just fine.
