EWin Champion Series Gaming Chair Review

EWinRacing

Champion Series

Model: CPC

There are so many gaming chairs out there that picking one to add your setup can be an overwhelming decision. Choosing one is especially difficult when you consider just how expensive gaming chairs can be. Fortunately, there are some great budget options out there, and Ewinracing has quite a few affordable chairs. How does the Champion Series model hold up?

Considering how much time people can spend sitting in their chairs while they play games, comfort is the number 1 priority for most. Fortunately, this is a comfortable seat that just about any medium-sized person can comfortably sit in for hours at a time. The pillows are soft and are placed in just the right spots for support. The lower pillow could be just a bit tighter to allow for more adjustment, but this doesn’t completely ruin the experience. The chair is more accommodating for a variety of body types than one would expect too. We had a woman who is 8 months pregnant try the chair out, and she found that the pillows offered just the right amount of support for her to be comfortable.

EWin Champion Series Ergonomic Computer Gaming Office Chair with Pillows - CPC

With how comfortable the Champion Series chair is, it is surprising that it is so affordable. This chair is accessible when you compare the competition, and you can usually acquire it for less than $300. The chair seems to be well made and worth every penny. It doesn’t come with any wild bells and whistles, but most will be satisfied with what they paid for. The chair’s flexibility and price ensure that is can be versatile to the user’s needs, even if that isn’t gaming.

As mentioned before, the chair doesn’t come with any wild features, which isn’t surprising considering the price. Just about everything is accessible on it, which is more than you can ask for. The arms can go in every direction: up, down, left, right, forward and back. This allows users to find what is comfortable, and if things get stiff after a long play session, you can quickly adjust the arms to find a new comfortable position. The height is easily adjustable as well. Finally, the chair can lean back so far that the user can just about lay flat on their back and fall asleep. The pillows hold up well in every position, adding to the chair’s versatility.

EWin Champion Series Ergonomic Computer Gaming Office Chair with Pillows - CPC

The chair is easy enough to put together. It arrives in a compact but large box that contains the few pieces needed to assemble. Assembly is fast, and most users will be able to put the chair together in less than half an hour. All necessary tools are included in the box, so you won’t need anything extra. It even comes with a pair of gloves to keep your hands clean. It’s clear that this product was made with those who aren’t too great with building in mind. If you have any experience building with Ikea furniture you will likely not have any trouble putting together this chair. A partner does make it much easier though, as the chair has some heavy pieces.

Speaking of heavy, this seat is hefty. At about 60 pounds, the chair is solid. The added weight adds the feeling of sturdiness to the chair. While we haven’t had much time with the EwinRacing Champion C Chair, it certainly feels like this chair will last for some time. It’s listed as able to hold close to 400 lbs, so bigger people should still be able to use the chair without much concern. I can’t speak for how comfortable it is for larger people since I am about 140 lbs and 6ft myself.

The chair looks great, with a sleek design. Without the bright, vivid colors, it can easily pass as a simple office chair.  It has a professional appearance and doesn’t sell out on looking like a gaming chair. The formal-ish look will appeal to those who don’t want their chair to be too gaudy. It doesn’t scream “Gaming Chair” out to a room at all. The appearance lends itself well to normal office settings, adding a bit of flexibility to its uses. The C model comes in blue and red, so you can pick what makes for the best accent with your gaming setup. The other Champion series chairs come in a variety of other colors like green, pink, and yellow, but I can’t speak for any other differences those chairs might have.

Considering the price, the EWinRacing Champion Series is a great choice for those who want a simple but accommodating gaming chair. If you are okay without the fancy bells and whistles, it’s hard to go wrong with the EWin Champion Series.

EWIN Champion Series Gaming Chair (Review)

Being no stranger to EWIN, I went into this review with an understanding of what their gaming chairs are like. I reviewed the FlashXL over a year ago, and another one of our writers wrote a review on another EWIN chair almost a year to the day later. Let’s take a closer look to see how the EWIN Champion Series Gaming Chair holds up in 2020.

Setup

Right off the bat, the EWIN Champion Series gaming chair (see it on Amazon), already has seen improvements. It’s very quick and easy to put together. I have put together many chairs in the past and will say that this was definitely the quickest of the bunch. It took me all of 5 to 10 minutes, and most of the parts pop into place.

Pro-tip: Once a new chair is set up, you will need a few hours/days to really break it in. The parts will need a bit of time to jell together and provide confidence in its build quality.

Build Quality

The EWIN Champion Series gaming chair is made with a PU leather and high density separated foaming cushion. With a foam density of 55kg/m3, the cushions are quite soft but still provide a firm comfort as well. This is especially helpful for long hours of gaming. Along with the chair, there are 2 additional cushions: a headrest and lumbar support. As with most chairs, the lumbar pillow is a kind gesture, but not accommodating to all.

As for the body and frame of the chair, it is supported by a metal frame. The base is an aluminum 5 point star shape. The wheels have a 2-inch Caster and have a hollow center, which is sturdy and looks awesome. The added accent ring color of the chair adds a bit of flair.

The tilt mechanism works great, with the exception of any defects that may occur. Unfortunately, the model I reviewed would make a popping sound if I leaned all the way forward, and then again if I leaned all the way back. This was due to a plastic piece that was slightly manufactured too large. Trimming the excess did the trick.

More About the Build

The tilt has a range from 85 to 155 degrees. The tilt density can also be adjusted with the knob underneath. Gaming chair companies use the term 4D for armrests. Essentially that means it can move in 4 patterns: up and down, side to side, forwards and back, swivel left and right. This all works flawlessly.

There is one hang up. The slots cut into the bottom of the armrest (they can slide forward and back) are oddly sharp. My son ended up cutting his finger as he was trying to move the chair. Luckily, this is not a commonplace that is touched, but maybe a more dull cut would have been better.

As with any chair that is put together, confidence in the chair grows as you spend more time in it. This was no exception. The EWIN Champion Series gaming chair feels firm and its durability is evident. I anticipate a few years sitting in this chair before any signs of wear and tear.

Is It Comfortable?

In short, yes. It’s high back design hugs the back well and holds it in an upright position. It is hard to sit incorrectly in this chair and also be comfortable. It does a fantastic job of providing that support for your back. The base cushion is met by an angled cushion on each side to hug the legs and continue the ergonomic pattern.

Though it appears that there are ventilation holes throughout the backrest, those are actually dimples. Due to this, the chair does begin to hold heat after about 1-2 hours of consistent gaming. It’s not unbearable, but allowing the foam to breathe would be a nice touch.

Leaning back is a simple task. Simply pull the lever on the right side to adjust the backrest, or unlock the tilt mechanism to tilt the whole chair back. Moving around is easy as the wheels are somewhat quiet and move smoothly, even on carpeted areas. Its lowest setting sits at about 18.9 inches high and can get up to 24 inches when fully extended, which is great for tall folks.

Final Reaction

The EWIN Champion Series gaming chair is flashy and better than other chairs at this price. There are better options, but those all cost $400 or more. This is why I found this chair to be a bit disappointing but acceptable for the price. Currently, these are listed at $309 on the EWIN website. It provides ergonomic support that gamers or workers at a desk needs and its style and durability are built to last.

Rating: 3.5/5 Atoms

PRODUCT REVIEW: E-WIN CHAMPION SERIES GAMING CHAIR

I’m a man who takes chairs very seriously.

I work from home. I put in an eight hour day in my office chair. I often game, read, or watch TV in my office at night. So my chair of choice is one I spend far too many hours in. It’s not an exaggeration to say that selecting the right chair is a big life decision.

Enter E-WIN’s Champion Series gaming chairs. These chairs are all about premium. From the sleek leather, to sharp design detail, to a tiny custom neck pillow; they’re very much about presenting a luxury chair experience. They even come with white gloves to protect your hands from grease during chair assembly.

Assembly: 4 Stars

I’m a dude who has built A LOT of chairs in my lifetime, probably in the neighborhood of 100 or so. Assembling the E-WIN Champion took little more effort than a typical office chair, but nothing too crazy. As is tradition, it’s assembled with simple hex bolts and two “L” wrenches. The toughest part was attaching the chair back to the seat, which was a bit difficult to align the screws.

Instructions were clear, and included high quality color photos of the actual product. The aforementioned white gloves were a nice touch, as there is a little contact with grease involved in attaching the base of the chair.  Nothing too crazy that wouldn’t wash off easily, but it was still nice to not have to worry about that.

Look: 5 stars

This chair looks cool as hell! From the design detail to the trim colors, it’s obvious a lot of thought went into deigning an awesome looking chair. The chair-back in particular mixes textures, colors, and stitching to maximum effect. Adding color to the wheels is a nice extra touch.

The Champion series is racing seat inspired, with a lot of contour to your body. I don’t know that it serves a functional purpose, but it’s a cool design feature, adding to the overall look of the chair.

Initial Comfort: 4.5 stars

The E-WIN Champion is a very firm chair at first impression. It’s not “hard”, but it is noticeably firm. I use a Tempurpedic office chair, which absorbs your body into a sense of spiritual one-ness with the chair, so it’s quite a difference.

The chair comes with removable, adjustable neck and lumbar pillows. It also has a great range of reclining options. Both features combine to create a very comfortable experience for controller based gaming. The lumbar pillow is also nice for keyboard and mouse gaming posture.

All-Day Comfort: 4 Stars

Comfort isn’t just an initial impression, it’s how you feel after an 8 hour work day, or weekend consuming dungeon crawls. In addition to sitting for 8 hours a day, I’ve got a lingering back injury and awful posture. The lumbar support forced me to have better posture, which took a little getting used to, but was fairly comfortable overall.

I’m always a bit concerned about overheating in leather chairs, but I had no such issue in the E-WIN Champion. It felt cool all day long, and during some late night gaming.

Bonus Points: This is a great chair for taller gamers. Chair and armrest height adjust to “very, very tall.”

The bottom line: This is a premium gaming chair, most comfortable when reclining for controller based gaming. It looks amazing, and has a ton of design detail.

E-WIN Racing was founded in 2016 after being part of a leading OEM office chair manufacturer. They are focused on designing and manufacturing ergonomic “racer” style chairs for both gaming and office use. E-WIN Racing uses the phrase “Quality, but cheap office gaming chairs” to describe their products, and we’re here to find out the accuracy of that statement, at least with the CP-BB3F Gaming Office Chair we had a chance to test.

Packaging & Contents

The chair arrived without any major damage to the box, just the typical scuffs from shipping. The box itself has minimal branding with only “E-WIN” stamped on two sides, and there is product information on two sides in the form of stickers.

Branding

When opening the box there is a cardboard sheet underneath and covering the 5-point aluminum base, which separates the base from the rest of the chair for protection. The next layer is the chair’s back, which is laying on top of the seat and the box of assembly components. As you can see, there was a little room for the different parts to move during shipment. The empty space could be filled with foam blocks or something similar to create a more snug fit, but regardless, everything arrived in good condition.

Chair Seat & Accessory Box

The small box has the majority of parts for assembly. These include the assembly manual, gloves, bolts, L-shaped hex wrenches, casters, hinge covers, gas lift, gas lift cover, and the seat mount/adjustment mechanism. There are also some pre-installed bolts that are used for assembly and we’ll see those a little later. The included gloves were an unexpected surprise when opening the box. The gloves are good for initial assembly to prevent skin oils from getting on the chair for oil-free pictures. However, once the chair is assembled and being used, it’s basically inevitable that skin oils will make contact with the chair.

Assembly

Assembly begins by removing the four pre-installed bolts in the backrest. Now, the backrest can be placed on the seat, in line with the hinges. The four bolts that were removed are used to attach the backrest to the seat.

Chair Back & Seat Assembly

Once the backrest and seat are assembled, there are a couple of hinge covers to hide the hinge and bolts. These covers just use a single bolt for mounting and a hole cap to hide the bolt.

Next, we have to mount the tilt and lock mechanism to the bottom of the seat to get it ready for mounting on the base. There are four pre-installed bolts that need to be removed from the seat to make room for the tilt and lock mechanism, then use those same bolts to attach the mechanism to the seat. It’s also worth noting that the armrests are attached to the seat with four bolts and there are slots in the armrests for mounting….we’ll mention this again later.

Now we need to assemble the chair’s base, which is really simple and doesn’t require any tools. The first step is pushing the casters into the ends of the 5-point base.

Next, the gas lift is installed by simply pushing it into the center hole of the base and placing the cover over it.

The last step is to set the backrest and seat assembly onto the gas lift of the base. That’s it! After maybe fifteen minutes we have a fully assembled E-WIN gaming/office chair.

Build Quality

The overall build quality seems really good.

I can appreciate the metal components such as the steel frame and aluminum base.

The PU leather fits tight around the cold molded foam, and the seams look well-stitched. The combination of diamond pattern and dimples in the seat and on the backrest will help the contact areas be a little more breathable than flat leather.

PU Leather, Seam, & Zipper

Diamond & Dimple Pattern

The casters also aren’t the basic cheap plastic casters seen on most office chairs, the E-WIN casters’ two wheels are slightly softer and rubbery. This gives them a little more grip on hard floors, and they actually roll pretty well in my carpeted room as well.

Casters Installed

The lowest quality parts of the chair, in my opinion, are the plastic pieces. Particularly, the plastic parts around the hinge are really thin and flimsy. The plastic parts of the armrests seem to be better in quality, but there is quite a bit of a wiggle room in the armrests.

Ergonomics

There are many adjustments that can be made to the chair to better suit the individual. The back pillow can be adjusted to sit anywhere between the neck pillow and seat to ensure support and comfort. Also, both the neck and back pillows can be removed completely if you wish.

Pillows On

Pillows Off

One adjustment feature that I really like is the reclining backrest, which can recline to an almost flat laying position. Before using this chair, I’ve always had to use the tilt adjustment for reclining, which tilts both the seat and backrest together. The E-WIN Champion chair’s tilt feature is really tight, even with the tension knob turned all the way on its loosest setting. Now, once you recline the backrest some, it becomes easier to tilt the chair back and rock. I suppose the tightness of the tilt adjustment helps to reinforce good posture, but for those that enjoy a loose tilt feature and easy rocking, this could be a turn-off.

Reclined

The gas lift adjusts the seat by 4 inches which makes it so that the top of the seat can be between 19 and 23 inches off the ground. The lowest setting is higher than I’m used to, but it positions me so that my feet are flat on the ground with my knees at a right angle.

Gas Lift Lowered

Gas Lift Raised

The armrests can adjust in four different ways: forward/backward, left/right, vertical, and rotation. The forward and backward adjustment is around 2 inches, the left and right adjustment is maybe an inch, vertical adjustment is around 3.5 inches, and the rotation adjustment spins the ends about an inch in either direction. Also, when assembling the chair I noticed that the armrests are attached to the bottom of the seat with bolts that are placed through slots in the metal. This means that there is slightly more adjustment to be had in the left/right direction if you loosen those bolts and slide the armrests.

Warranty

Below is a quote from the E-WIN Racing warranty page.

EwinRacing promises to repair or replace any EwinRacing product or component that is found to be defective in material or workmanship within five (5) years from the date of original purchase so long as you, the original purchaser, still owns it. EwinRacing further warrants the steel frame for a period of ten (10) years. This is your sole and exclusive remedy. This warranty is subject to the provisions below. This warranty is effective with purchases made on or after February 28, 2017. Purchases made before that date have a different warranty term, please consult your retailer.

Conclusion

The most important thing everyone should keep in mind when looking to buy a new gaming chair or office chair is that comfort is subjective. All of the adjustment options available on the CP-BB3F will help broaden the range of types of individuals that could benefit from and enjoy the chair. The chair definitely forces me to sit with good posture, which is a good thing especially since I’m notorious for bad desk posture. I like the feel of the PU leather, memory foam, and how the edges of the seat and back wrap around me slightly.

The E-WIN Champion Series CP-BB3F Chair has an MSRP of $379 but happens to be on sale for $309. I’ve never spent more than around $100 on a chair before, so the price was surprising to me at first glance on E-WIN’s website. However, after using the chair I realized that the materials used and available features are what makes the Champion Series chair a chair in the $300-400 price range.

For me, the only real downside to the chair was the thin plastic parts covering the hinges on the side of the chair. I feel like those parts could be thicker and more sturdy for a chair pricing at close to $400 MSRP. However, this isn’t a deal breaker for whether or not I’d recommend the chair, just something the consumer should be aware of before purchase.

Overall, I feel like the E-WIN Champion Series CP-BB3F chair is a solid and comfortable chair that could be used for gaming, office or any setting that requires sitting for an extended time.
