Ewinracing Champion Series [Review]

By: Mithrandiel

Note: I was provided a Champion Series chair from Ewinracing in exchange for my fair and honest review.

I, like so many others, find myself working from home now on a somewhat regular basis. My wife has now completely moved to a work from home situation as well. As more and more folks find themselves working from home, there has been a dramatic increase in the need for a proper workspace: a good desk, a nice webcam, a great headset…and of course, a comfortable chair.

Office chairs have largely been seen in a league of their own outside of gaming chairs, as if they serve different purposes – but in reality, many professionals are flocking to companies like Ewinracing for a sturdy, comfortable office chair at affordable prices.

We knew it was time for a new chair when our old chair quietly whispered “Kill me…” as I plopped down into it for the 10,000th time. (Don’t worry, I’ve called in an old priest and a young priest.) It was a simple, black office chair with cheap plastic covering that was an upgrade from the stiff desk chair I had before, but it was time for yet another upgrade. A serious one.

Having reviewed Ewinracing’s products before, I decided to browse the catalog and see if there was anything new that could fit in well with our more neutral office setup. Neon green and red chairs didn’t exactly work well with the overall aesthetic.

Thankfully, I found a nice neutral gray ewin gaming chair:

Once the chair arrived, which took about a week, it was time to dive in and put the thing together!

Come to papa!

As I began to navigate the directions, it was a bit odd that it didn’t seem specific to the model I purchased. There were some instructions that seemed more generalized, or for other series like their Hero and Knight lines.

The base is very sturdy, as is the hydraulic component. Always good to have a strong foundation – pretty sure I’ve heard words of wisdom along those lines many times in my life.

The weighty pieces did make the solo job a bit challenging at times – would definitely go a bit more swimmingly with two people. Took me just about 90 minutes to make sure I had it put together the right way. Those who are more skilled in the art of putting together furniture could likely get it done in an hour.

The Champion series chair is complemented by two pillows – one that rests at the base of the chair, and the other to support your head. Now, I’m just under 6 feet tall, and the pillow hits right where it should. My wife, who’s about 5’6″, says that it doesn’t work as comfortably for her. It’s still fine, but not ideal. Ewinracing does offer different sizes in some of their other lines, but this championship series is a one-size fits all deal…so it won’t fit your size if you’re a bit shorter – especially if you raise the chair to max height.

That being said, the material is extremely comfortable. While most of the other ewin gaming chairs have a sort of leather-like material, the fabric in this model is much more breathable and firm – offering great comfort, breathability (crucial in these summer months!) and of course, reminding you to sit up straight!

While the quality of the materials is solid at the base and through the seat, the armrests, while offering good adjustability, feel a bit cheap comparatively. It’s not a deal-breaker by any means, but just a bit surprising considering the quality of the rest of the chair.

Overall, I’m very happy with my new ewin gaming chair – It’s got a professional look to it, and is very comfortable.

The chair usually retails for $299, but if you use our code, “thegeeklygrind”, you can save an additional 30% off! Head over to the ewinracing site to check out your options, and add a great new chair to your home office setup!RATE1
