EWINRACING CHAMPION SERIES GAMING CHAIR REVIEW

QUALITY AND COMFORT.

I can say that in my decade plus of coverage one thing I have never done is review something I put my butt into. Gaming chairs are a dime a dozen. It seems like everyone has one, and until this review I had never used one. I always thought any old office chair would suffice, no reason to pay the extra money for those colorful seats I saw in all the popular streams on Twitch.

Now after spending a couple weeks with the gaming chair I can say I was wrong, extremely wrong. The EwinRacing gaming chair is the most comfortable seat I have used when checking out games, well outside of a full-on lounger of course. It’s design is sleek and its comfort unparalleled. For those of us that can lose hours sitting at a computer desk or in front of a TV know, comfort is king.

I live for comfort!

MSRP: $349.99
MANUFACTURER: EWINRACING
PRICE I’D PAY: $349.99

When my unit arrived it was in a massive box. Unpacking it was simple and each piece laid out perfectly. Everything needed to assemble it is in the box, including a pair of gloves to keep the nasty grease from getting all over my fingers. Trust me this was one of the most helpful things in the box. Grease from chairs like this is absolutely disgusting to clean up. While the tools are there, I decided to use my own set. Assembly took less than 30 minutes and the instructions were very clear. Anyone could assemble this beast.

Now that it was assembled, it was time for the ultimate test. I am a large guy, most chairs only handle a certain amount of weight. The EwinRacing chair boasts a steel frame that supposedly supports over 300lbs, which is more than enough. I put it through the ringer. Sitting in various positions, plopping down into it, it never budged. This is one solid construction.

What I also love is its design. From pictures you can see the chair conforms around the body, making longer sessions more comfortable. I used this chair for a full eight-hour workday and my back thanked me for it. The lower lumbar support pillow is extremely comfortable as well as being adjustable. It really helps for long sessions. The chair can also recline back and forward giving the perfect angle for extended sessions.

Not everything is perfect though. The head rest pillow feels almost useless. I could never find a good spot to rest my neck into it. It was always too close, or too far. The arm rests also have issues. While I love that they are completely adjustable, they feel a little loose in practice. I could adjust their height, angle, and even slide them in and out, but they wobble a little too much. Especially when in comparison to how solid the rest of the design is. At first I thought I had broken them, but after some research I realized I was not the only one having issues.

Another great thing about EwinRacing chairs is their design. They offer them in various designs and colors. I was able to get the red and black design, which is perfect as those are my favorite combination of colors. As I mentioned earlier the way it conforms to my body is also stellar. While I have not had the opportunity to compare this to other gaming chairs, it simply blows my standard office chair out of the water. The comfort is unmatched.

One thing I would like to see added is a leg rest at some point. Nothing would be better than reclining with my feet up after a long work day playing some Overwatch. While it is a nitpick, it is still something I would love to see.

The EwinRacing Gaming Chair is more than worth its price tag. As someone who spends an abundance of time sitting in a chair in front of a screen it has done wonders for my back support. No longer do I get out of my chair reaching for my lower back. The design is great and its construction is super solid. I feel like this chair will last me years and years to come. If you are in the market for a new gaming or office chair I recommend dropping the few extra dollars and picking one up. As I get older I realize that comfort in my favorite hobby, as well as my day-to-day life is imperative.

You can snag one of these chairs at the official EwinRacing site. Be sure to use code “ztgd” to get a 15% discount on purchase!

EWin Champion Series Gaming Chair Review – Comfort and Stability

ewin champion series gaming chair review

I’ve had my fair share of terrible office chairs. “A chair’s a chair,” right? Wrong. There’s something to be said for spending a little bit more time and money finding a good gaming chair, something that will provide support, stability, and comfort, especially when you spend a lot of time in front of a computer or TV. Most of my waking hours are spent in front of at least one of these two screens, so I jumped at the opportunity when Ewin Racing offered one of their Champion Series gaming chairs for review.

The chair arrived in a fairly large box. This gaming chair is a good sized piece of furniture, so be prepared to have a mildy annoyed UPS driver. After lugging the package inside, I set out to put the gaming chair together. Assembly is pretty easy, and most of it came already put together. I simply had to attach the seat back to the bottom, assemble the base, and put it all together. As easy as it is, I’d recommend two people for the job, just to help hold the pieces steady while screwing them in. The package comes with everything you need to put it together, so from the moment you get the box, you can set up your gaming chair without any delay.

In order to offer a great amount of stability and comfort, the seat portion of the gaming chair is made of a solid steel frame and high-density memory foam. This isn’t the cheap stuff, which means the bucket seat feels like a hug. I’m relatively average weight, and I never felt that the chair was either providing too much give in the cushion, nor too firm to be comfortable. If Goldilocks were to sit in this chair, I’m sure she’d say it was just right. As the balance between my couch (way too soft), and my little plastic desk chair (way too hard), Ewin Racing provides a seat that feels great.

Adjusts to Fit You

The Champion Series gaming chair is very adjustable as well, to ensure that any person sitting in it can feel comfortable. The armrests move in four dimensions (swivel, in and out, back and forward, up and down), and though I am more than happy to have the ability to fine tune where they seat, the number of moving parts make these feel like the cheapest part of the chair. There’s a height adjustment that can raise or lower the seat by more than four inches, which is a pretty significant amount. For a tall person like myself, there’s even a point where the chair can get too high for me and my feet dangle just above the ground.

ewin champion series gaming chair review 2

A recline feature allows you to kick the seat back up to 155 degrees, and a tilt function lets you lean back slightly with adjustable tension. leaning the seat back a little bit took the chair from daytime working to evening relaxing very quickly, though I didn’t dare go back too far. The five-point base offers some stability, the center pole on the bottom of the chair seems like it is too far forward to allow for a comfortable full lean. Admittedly the chair never fell over while I was reclining in it, but there’s still a fear of what might happen if a kitten were to jump on me and throw the weight distribution off. The chair is actually engineered to support this full recline though, so that phobia is merely psychological.

A couple of pads come with the gaming chair, one for lumbar support on your back and a pillow for your head. The lumbar support is a great piece and the positioning is easily adjustable using the straps that attach it to the chair. As someone who tends to slouch way too much, it has really helped with my posture. The head/neck pillow, on the other hand, feels entirely pointless. It’s nearly impossible to adjust the position as it always slides down, and it’s far too small to really provide any added support to the head/neck area. It’s definitely more useful when reclining a little bit, so I’m glad the option is included, and it’s easy to remove if it ever starts to annoy me too much.

A Hefty Piece of Furniture

While I keep referring to this chair as a gaming chair, it doubles perfectly well as an office chair as well, given you don’t mind the bright colors. In fact, from behind, the red parts of the chair are merely accents. That’s one aspect of gaming chairs I’ve never been able to get into. The designs are full of bright colors, logos, and they just scream “extreme gamer!” Is it too much to ask for the same comfort and solid build without feeling like I need to take up streaming Fortnite daily? If these gaming chair companies could make something with a few more modern design sensibilities, they could vastly open up their potential market from the gamer bros and Twitch streamers to a more moderate crowd just looking for a comfortable chair to sit in.

Splashes of red not fitting into my home decor aside, I love this chair and I can’t stop using it. It sits squarely in the middle of my living room, giving me a seat closer to my TV. I find it even more comfortable than vegging out on the couch, and after using it regularly for a little more than a week, I’m not beset with the same back aches that my couch often gave me. Whether I’m gaming or writing up this review, the Ewin Champion Series gaming chair is my seat of choice. Yes, that includes in front of the TV in my living room.

ewin champion series gaming chair review 1

Without having had other PC gaming chairs, I can’t make a fair comparison to other brands, but after working in an office for a decade of my life, I can safely say it’s far more comfortable than any office chair I had during that time. You might be able to find a cheaper office chair at Walmart, Ikea, or any number of other furniture stores, but they’d be hard pressed to offer the same level of comfort that this chair does. Those other seats might look a lot more like the picturesque version of an office chair, but I’m at a point in my life where comfort overtakes style. That’s why there’s a sizable red and black chair sitting in the middle of my living room.

If you’re looking for a comfortable piece of office furniture at a relatively affordable price (for gaming chairs), the Ewin Champion Series gaming chair is a great choice. It’s a solid chair that feels built to last and provides more comfort and stability that any other office chair I’ve ever used. If you don’t mind the colored racing stripes look, Ewin Racing gaming chairs are well worth the price to maintain the back health of those constantly sitting in front of a screen.

The chair reviewed is an Ewin Racing Champion Series in red. You can browse the full selection of Ewin Racing gaming chairs over on their website.

-WIN Hero Series Gaming Chair Review

Intro

It seems like not to long ago the first gaming chairs came out, I was so disinterested in them.  Why would you charge so much for a chair, it can’t be that comfortable,… can it? Last year I came to find I was so wrong and these things are incredibly comfortable, so much more than almost all of their  pc gaming chairs you can find in your local office supplies store.  With that, I introduce you to my review of the E-Win Hero Series HR-BC3D Computer Gaming Chair.

Let’s go over some of the features:

Features

  • Cold Molding Foam
    • High Density Memory Foam
  • 360° Swivel
  • 3, 5 and 10 Year Warranty (Explained later in the review)

These boxes are always so big, but of course there is a big cushy comfy chair in there after all so it is to be expected.  So let’s check out the unboxing video so we can see what’s inside.

Quite a few things to go through, and I do apologize there was a manual but in the confusion, I had lost it.  Once we were approached for the opportunity for the chair, I picked the one I wanted and they started packaging everything just for me.  Towards the end, when they were about to ship it I had realized I picked the wrong one and contact them to change the chair and that’s where the mix up occurred.  They shipped me the chair I wanted, but kept the other chairs manual inside, it was the manual for the Champion Series, not the Hero Series I had the final selection on.

No worries though, later in this review I show you all how to build it, so you can use that video as a guide.

Here are links to both sets, in case you are curious.  If you are going to purchase one, stay tuned till the end of this review as I have a coupon to save you a bit of cash.

OK, now that you are back from that, let’s jump over to the Piece by Piece section so that we can go over each piece in this kit.

EWinRacing Hero Series Gaming Chair Review

Being an IT professional, a vivid gamer, I spend quite a bit of time sitting down.  Because of that, there’s only one thing that’s more important than the hardware I amass in my office. That is a good quality chair. Which is exactly something that I’ve neglected for as long as I can remember. Let’s be honest, a good chair costs a lot of money. We’re talking $300 or more for a quality chair that doubles up for long gaming sessions or late night coding sessions. A chair that won’t have your rear end and back feeling like crap. Yet for 20+ years, the most I’ve ever paid for anything overly expensive. Yeah, I’m cheap as heck when it comes to chairs. However, with me being 41-years young, my body has been telling me that it’s time to stop being so cheap. As such, I started looking for a chair that would allow me to do what I enjoy. Without breaking my bank account. Or even better, not having my wife potentially killing me. So, after doing some research on numerous gaming chairs out there, I was going nowhere fast. Seriously, looking for a chair nowadays is like looking for a car. Every one of them has this sexy looking, possessing numerous advantages and stuff that others don’t have. Just when you decide on “The One”, you look at the price tag. Suddenly, that one just isn’t the one after a while.

Thankfully for me, it seems that stars started to align. See, being a gaming and technology journalist, you tend to get offered stuff to check out. It just so happens that it was my turn to be offered a chair to review. The kind folks over at Ewin Racing had reached out to me, asking if I wanted to review one of their chairs. After a conversation with one of their representatives (Hello Sally), I decided on the EWin Hero Series Ergonomic Computer Gaming Office Chair, in red and black.  After a few days, the chair was shipped out to me.

I admit that I was never completely sold on the idea of a “Gaming Racing Chair“. I was under the impression that it was a gimmick to promote more sales. With countless online personalities claiming that a gaming chair was the best piece of equipment they ever acquired. Despite seeing them pop-up in more and more places. Despite reading multiple articles claiming that they’re the best thing since, well since sliced bread. Damn it, now I’m hungry. Anyway, I’m not too proud to admit when I’m wrong. I was clearly in the wrong here. I’ll be damned if this both comfortable and good for my back.

So let’s dive into this chair and see what it’s all about. Specs of the EWinRacing Hero Gaming Chair: Chair Type: Gaming/Office Chair Foam Type:High Density Integrated Foaming / Foam Density: 55kg/m3 Frame Construction: Metal Adjustable Armrests: 4D Mechanism Type: Multi-functional Tilt Gas Lift Class: 4 Adjustable Back Angle: 85-155 Degree  Adjustable Lumbar Cushion: Yes Adjustable Headrest: Yes Base Type: 5-star Wide Aluminum Base Caster Size & Material: 2″ Caster/PU

Upon opening the box, which wasn’t damaged (thanks, UPS), I took each of the parts out of the box and reviewed them. Surprisingly, there weren’t as many parts as I expected there to be. Included was the seat and pillows, base, wheels, and various other accessories. The included instructions were clear and precise, which was a blessing. It took my wife and myself thirty minutes to put the chair together and we never once had a problem reading the instructions.

They even included two Allen keys to assemble the chair. You don’t even need to use your own tools, as they included everything for you. I’m still not sure why a pair of gloves were added, or why they were called “PU Gloves”. At least they allowed my daughter to crack a joke about them being PU Gloves (they stink). Ah, children.

All the parts included in the box.

Decked out in black and red, this chair does remind me of a racing seat. The armrests adjust to three different levels. The seat also raises and lowers, thanks to the height adjustment. To the rear of the chair is reinforced high backing, great for taller people. Included are two cushions (headrest and lumbar) that attached by two straps, that can also be placed as needed for maximum comfort. Rounding out the rest of the features is the pull recline lever that moves the chair between 85 – 155 degrees. Great for watching TV, playing games, or just relaxing. Speaking of being comfortable, a good measure for a gaming chair is how long can you sit in it. Since I spend a lot of time in my office, being comfortable is super important. Prior to this review, I’d clocked in 200 hours in this chair so far and not once have I felt uncomfortable in it. That’s extremely positive for me.

The build quality is exceptional as well. Made out of hard plastic and metal, the chair is very sturdy.  The frame of the chair is made out of steel, while the seat is covered in high-density memory foam. The base of the chair is also high quality and made out of aluminum This particular model can support up to 330lbs. Definitely some quality stuff here.

All in all, the chair has been great to me.

By now, you’re probably thinking to yourself “is it as good as you make it out to be”? Well, it is almost perfect, however, there are several things that I wasn’t a fan of. Not to knock the chair, but more like constructive feedback.

The first has to do with the seat of the chair. Along the sides, toward the front, it has a slight incline that tends to restricts your freedom. It pushes my thighs together, with little wiggle room. I can sit comfortably, but I can’t spread my legs out. Not unless I sit a bit closer on the edge of the seat, which could result in me tipping over. Those with smaller thighs won’t likely have the same, so your experience may vary. For me, it’s nuisance but it’s not a detractor. The chair sits up a bit higher than I liked, but not too much of a big deal.

Outside of that, the chair is a great value for the price. Currently, this chair is priced at $379, but at the moment EWinRacing is running a promotion for Chinese New Year. For now, the chair comes with a 20% discount, dropping the price of the chair to $359. Once the promotion is over, the chair goes back up. Fortunately for our readers, we have a 15% discount off all Ewin chairs by using the code “TOH15” at checkout. We won’t get any kickback if you purchase a chair. Just a little something to help our readers out, nothing more. Enjoy!

EWinRacing Hero Series Gaming Chair My very first gaming chair and it’s a winner. Not overly expensive, while being durable, sturdy and looks cool as well. Definitely comfortable for those who are at their or TVs for long periods of time. There’s not really much I can say other than this chair has put my other chairs to shame.  Sadly, the chair is a bit too good and now I have to fight my family over it. So I guess that means I’m buying another one.

Overall 4.5 /5

Introduction

The market for high end gaming peripherals has been booming for several years now. The trend started with mechanical keyboards which provide both tactile feedback and a variety of switch types to suit different preferences. Gamers quickly grew accustomed to expecting more from their peripherals. This trend soon spread to other peripherals including mice, webcams, headsets, and even standalone mics. Even high-end monitors that offer lower latency and higher refresh rates are now common among the PC elite. While all of these peripherals stand to improve a user’s experience, gamers often neglect the one item right under their nose: their chair. A high-end gaming chair is designed with long sitting sessions in mind and stands to improve both user’s comfort and posture.

Awareness of gaming chairs has been growing, but there’s still a far higher hesitation factor involved with ordering a gaming chair than there is with other high-end purchases. High costs play a part, but the bulky nature of the product also plays a significant role. For years, the size, shipping, and assembly requirements kept me from ordering a gaming chair. The anxiety of ordering a chair without first sitting on it was also a factor. Fortunately, the folks at E-Win made the decision for me by offering one of their premium Hero Series chairs for me to test out. After using extensively for the past month, I thought I’d share my thoughts.

What’s in the Box

The EWinRacing Hero Series gaming chair comes disassembled in a hefty box, but assembly only takes 10-20 minutes. Despite its size, I found it far easier to assemble than the IKEA chair I was previously using. A clearly worded color manual makes following along during the assembly process effortless. The adjustable armrests even come pre installed on the sides of the seat. The only step that could benefit from a second pair of hands is joining the backrest with the seat portion. E-Win chairs have sturdy steel frames which makes them heftier than generic office chairs. If you’re assembling the chair alone, it may help to place the seat piece on an elevated surface like a table before joining it with the backrest. E-Win has a convenient installation guide available on YouTube which you can reference.

Adjustable Comfort

Once assembled, it become clear that the E-Win Hero series chair has a multitude of adjustment options. The pre-installed armrests can be adjusted in height which helps since I prefer them to be low enough to slide under my desk. They can also be removed entirely for those who prefer not to use armrests. The backrest can adjusted back with the help of a lever on the right of the seat. A height adjustment lever is located on the bottom right of the seat as well. Most importantly, the included head support and lower back/lumbar support cushion can be adjusted or removed entirely. The E-Win seatback is very firm, but the two cushions balance this out perfectly. Their value is especially apparent when you lean the backseat back a bit. The firm build of the chair keeps your posture healthy while the cushions offer support for the two contact points along the back of your body. When trying to find the ideal setup for yourself, I suggest moving the cushions around a bit, it took me several adjustments to get it perfectly aligned for my height and body shape.

Memory Foam For Your Butt

The seat itself is perhaps the largest improvement over standard office chairs. My E-Win Hero Series chair came just in time for the launch of the latest World of Warcraft expansion, Battle For Azeroth and I have been sitting still playing for up to 12 hours a day. My old chair required me to make several uncomfortable adjustments to give my sore butt a rest. This often twisted my back into strange poses which I would hold for minutes at a time. Now I don’t even think about my butt while sitting. The thick memory foam seat feels like a cloud, especially after your body heat warms it up a bit.

Aesthetics

My biggest reservation when it came to gaming chairs was their aesthetic. Often streamers are seen with these chairs and they can look a bit glaring, especially in an otherwise normal bedroom or living room. If you share these concerns, know that E-Win also has an all-black chair option in their ‘Champion Series’ line. But from my experience, the blue Hero Series model I received looks much better than I thought it would. The most colorful part, the backrest, is always facing the desk and so the chair’s overall presence in a room is by no means overpowering.

Overall

Priced at $359 with free shipping, the E-Win Hero series may seem expensive, but the difference in quality over standard office chairs is substantial. For value per dollar, the chair is a bargain. The metal frame and dense foam seat look like they can last a lifetime. And just as with mechanical keyboards, once you’ve used a proper chair, you’ll be wondering why you didn’t make the switch sooner. But with all that said, there are caveats. As I said earlier, the E-Win chair is quite firm. Those who realize the value of good posture will appreciate this, but some may find the firmness to be uncomfortable. The ergonomics of the chair force a healthy posture. Sitting cross legged, for example, is difficult due to the curves on the seat. Again, this can largely be seen as a positive, but is worth mentioning for full disclosure. Those looking for a chair for gaming won’t be disappointed. Overall, the E-Win Hero Series receives top marks and comes highly recommended.
